Total The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening without a single death recorded in your save file and you will unlock a secret end after the game’s credits.
This was the case for the two versions of Link’s Awakening introduced back in the afternoon, about the Game Boy and Game Boy Color, and it’s something the brand new Nintendo Switch variant of the game incorporates too.
Apparently, spoilers for the game’s end lie below.
After stirring the Windfish and watching Koholint Island evaporate, Link wakes up floating in the sea holding on to some driftwood. Had the whole adventure been a dream? No – because the hulking Windfish itself unexpectedly seems, flying overhead.
It’s here the ending credits roll, and following those you will find a final»The End» message.
But if you’ve defeated the entire of Link’s Awakening without perishing, you will then receive a heartwarming Easter egg including Marin, Link’s crush and closest in-game ally.
Throughout your experience, Marin tells you she wants nothing more than just depart Koholint herself, and also will want to this Windfish to make it happen.
«If I had been a seagull, I would fly as far as I could! I’d fly far away areas and sing for a lot of people! …follow the link zelda link’s awakening dx rom At our site When I want to the Wind Fish, I still wonder if my dream may come true»
And it’s this you will get to see whether you have that no-death save – the consequence being that Marin obtained her wish and has been spared, despite Koholint Island being no longer.
From the original Game Boy Link’s Awakening, Marin’s sprite was given wings – like a floating item in among those game’s dungeons.
In the Game Boy Color variation, Link’s Awakening DX, a vision of Marin herself has been temporarily seen, before a seagull is shown flying away. The implication here is not as that Marin has sprouted wings, and more her wish has come true.
In the end, from the Nintendo Shift variant, which can be a direct remaster of the DX ending. Again, we see a fantasy of Marin, prior to the seagull flies away. Is Link just recalling her when he sees the seagull? Or has been reincarnated as a soul? The game lets you decide.
It is among the many ways Link’s Awakening on Switch stays authentic to the original game – which in turn proved to be a huge reason I discovered so much to appreciate about this movie. «Koholint deserves nothing less, and while Link must journey to leave its beaches, this model will always be an area that keeps the island for others to follow,» I composed at Eurogamer’s Link’s Awakening Switch inspection.
